The Atsain Network began as a group of youth music organisations across Wales funded through our ‘Atsain Fund’ that was active between 2020-2025 that met regularly to discuss key industry topics, share best practices and address barriers relevant to music in Wales.
The Atsain Fund set out to support projects for young people engaging in music who experienced barriers through life circumstances such as geographical issues, disability, language, identity or background. When the fund closed, we knew that it was important to maintain contact and further develop the network.
In order for the youth music ecosystem in Wales to thrive, young people need to be at the forefront of sector-wide conversations. This is why we want to encourage youth music organisations to bring along young people that they think would benefit from attending. Our cohort of Atseinio Young Leaders will input into future meetings, feeding back and sharing some of what organisations can learn from working with young people.
The purpose of the network is to enable knowledge sharing, foster collaboration in the community and encourage good practice. We hope that the existence and work of the Atsain Network will lead to measured and strategic change for Wales that represents a breadth of lived realities.
Participation in the network is completely free.
“We’re a very new company and we’re learning so much. Connecting with others at this early stage is vital to us. These meetings are so useful. Thank you.” Network member
