Anthem’s vision is a Wales in which young people lead a vibrant and connected youth music ecosystem.
Our work builds skills, confidence and community through music by:
Anthem. Cronfa Gerdd Cymru Music Fund Wales was established in 2018 following a Welsh Government report exploring ways to support young people’s music making and learning in Wales.
Anthem brings together young people, partners, artists and the wider youth music sector to ensure all young people in Wales can engage with and shape music in their communities. By co-creating with young people and partners, we put youth-voice at the heart of our work, nurturing talent, creativity, confidence and stronger communities.
Each year, over 5,000 young people engage in Anthem programmes that build skills, wellbeing and belonging. The Anthem Gateway shares opportunities and skills resources across Wales, opening pathways into music education and careers, while UNLOCKED showcases give young performers and audiences in underserved areas their first experiences of live music. Nurture (coming soon) provides tailored support and funding to those facing the greatest barriers to progression, and our annual FFWD>> cohort of diverse young creatives help co-design our activity, ensuring that youth representation and lived experience informs everything we do. We also lead a Wales-wide network of 75+ youth music practitioners, strengthening collaboration, inclusion and innovation across the sector.
