Rural Routes Rhythms

Rural Routes Rhythms is a Taith-funded international project designed to overcome barriers faced by young music professionals in rural areas of Wales and Spain. It brings together six emerging musicians – three from each country – for an exchange that promotes creativity, skill development, and community connection. The project includes mapping existing rural music resources, delivering training sessions in both countries, and co-creating a digital toolkit to support professional growth. This toolkit will be shared via the Anthem Gateway and the Wazo website, with launch events in late 2025 to showcase outcomes and engage communities.

Focusing on diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, the project expects to directly benefit six participants and indirectly support over 60 rural musicians testing the toolkit. In the long term, it aims to strengthen rural music networks, boost local pride, and create sustainable opportunities that counter urban migration.

Wazo Coop, a Spanish social cooperative, drives positive rural change through creative and social entrepreneurship, fostering leadership and innovation among young people. Anthem. Music Fund Wales, a charitable organisation, empowers young people across Wales through music by providing funding, training, and industry access. Together, they promote a fairer, more connected, and thriving future for rural music communities.
